About The Great Grid Upgrade
The Great Grid Upgrade is the biggest overhaul of the transmission network in generations, with new overhead lines, subsea links and substations across the country.
Crews move along the route in waves. We set up accommodation ahead of each section and hand it back when the crew moves on.

Grid works are spread along long cable and overhead line routes, so accommodation follows the route in stages rather than sitting in one town.
Getting to site
East Anglian works run from Norwich, Ipswich and the Tilbury end. Lincolnshire and Humber packages are served from Grimsby, Lincoln and Boston. Northern and Border works use Newcastle, Berwick and the surrounding towns.
Parking & vehicles
Rural route works mean vans, 4x4s and welfare vehicles. Yard or driveway parking is a hard requirement and we filter for it.
Everyday living
Route bases are often small towns, so we favour properties within walking distance of a supermarket and a pub — it makes a long rural placement far more tolerable.
Shifts & rotations
Outage-driven works run in concentrated bursts with long days. Short-notice, flexible terms are the norm here.
