Hinkley Point C is the UK's first new nuclear station in a generation, with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning phases now driving demand for skilled contractors.

Rotational shift patterns and long assignments make self-catering apartments and houses far more cost-effective than nightly hotel rates, especially for teams of four to twelve.

Somerset accommodation is tight and seasonal, so the practical answer for Hinkley Point C crews is a base in Bridgwater with Taunton and Weston-super-Mare as overflow.

Getting to site

Bridgwater to the main gate is roughly 20 minutes via the C182 and the dedicated site routes. Taunton adds around 15 minutes but opens up much deeper stock. Weston-super-Mare is a 45 minute run and works best for teams already used to a longer commute.

Parking & vehicles

Site parking is managed and bus transfers are widely used, so crews often only need parking for one or two vehicles at the property. Driveway parking is standard on the houses we place in Bridgwater and Taunton.

Everyday living

Bridgwater has the big supermarkets, retail parks and takeaways crews actually use; Taunton adds more restaurants and gyms for longer management placements. Both have good drying and laundry facilities in the properties we use, which matters for wet civils work.

Shifts & rotations

Mechanical, electrical and commissioning packages run long rotations — commonly two or three weeks on with a travel weekend. Rolling monthly terms with a changeover day suit this far better than nightly hotel bookings.
