The Lower Thames Crossing links Essex and Kent with the longest road tunnel in the UK, with compounds and works spread across Thurrock, Gravesham and the A2/M2 corridor.

This is the project we know best — we already manage property in Grays, Tilbury, Dartford and Gravesend, so we can place teams within minutes of the compounds.

Lower Thames Crossing Accommodation: Local Guide

This is our home patch. We already manage property in Grays, Tilbury, Dartford and Gravesend, so Lower Thames Crossing teams can be placed within minutes of the compounds on either side of the river.

Getting to site

North-side works off the A13 and A1089 are served from Grays and Tilbury in under 15 minutes. South-side portal and A2 works run from Gravesend and Dartford. The Dartford Crossing is the one variable to plan around — we base crews on the same side of the river as their compound wherever possible.

Parking & vehicles

Van and pickup parking is standard on our Thurrock and Kent properties, with driveways or secure allocated bays. This is a heavy-plant corridor and street parking is not a sensible plan for a project vehicle.

Everyday living

Lakeside and Bluewater cover everything a crew needs within 15 minutes, and both Grays and Gravesend have full supermarkets, gyms and rail links into London for rest days.

Shifts & rotations

Tunnelling and highways works run 24-hour patterns with shift changeovers at odd hours. Keyless access and no reception is the norm across our properties here.

Practical pointers for Lower Thames Crossing teams

Split large crews across nearby houses on the same side of the river to avoid crossing charges and delays.
We can usually turn around accommodation here in days rather than weeks.
Rainham and Basildon are useful overflow with fast A13 access.
